In the early hours of the 24th of February 2022, President Vladimir Putin ordered Russian troops to invade Ukraine. Since then, the people of Ukraine have had to endure a crusade of destruction. The UNHCR reported that over two million people have fled Ukraine in just 12 days as a result of the indiscriminate attacks on Ukrainian cities. Still, there are no signs of the war coming to an end. Civilians continue to be targeted and killed and the number of Ukrainian refugees is expected to rise to over 4 million if the violence continues. Pressure needs to be applied from all sides to ensure that the war ends so no more lives are disrupted and lost.
Silence War is an immersive soundscape experience - created by compiling the audio of combat footage recorded on-the-ground in Ukraine - that represents what it is like to be surrounded by the sounds of war and highlights the need to bring back peace to protect life.
